7GP Portland Based Fireproofing
Descriptions Southwest Fireproofing Type 7GPTM is formulated with Portland cement as the base ingredient rather than gypsum cement in order to provide greater water resistance. The combination of Portland cement and Vermiculite has been widely used in lightweight construction applications for decades. Insulated roof decks and swimming pool bases are well known applications in addition to fire resistive coatings. Specific Uses Type 7GPTM is for use in those areas requiring medium or standard density fireproofing where prolonged moisture exposure does not permit use of gypsum plaster or wallboard. Benefits Type 7GPTM adds the water resistance of Portland cement binder when required for interior standard or medium density service areas. Type 7GPTM is cost effective because it is priced competitively and is simple and easy to install. The installed material is strong, durable and reliable, with physical properties that meet or exceed industry standards as shown in the data table below. Applications Type 7GPTM is used in medium density service conditions as shown in the Selection Chart.

TYPE 7GP CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS SPRAY-APPLIED TO STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF BUILDINGS FOR FIRE RESISTANCE. UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES FIRE TEST RESULTS HAVE QUALIFIED IT FOR USE IN OVER 100 DESIGNS. UL DESIGN PAGE
TYPE 7GP CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS DERIVED FROM THE BENEFICIAL COMBINATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT AND VERMICULITE. IT IS NON-COMBUSTIBLE AND UNDER FIRE, IT RELEASES WATER OF CRYSTALLIZATION WHICH TURNS TO STEAM AND RETARDS HEAT TRANSFER.
