Descriptions Southwest Fireproofing Type 7TBTM is a thermal barrier formulated with vermiculite and Portland cement for plastic foams. The formulation cures to form a medium density, polymer modified coating to provide code required finish ratings to foam plastics. It may also be used to protect structural steel from heat in the event of a fire. Portland cement is used as the cement rather than gypsum, which is used in our Type 5TM fireproofing, in order to provide greater resistance to moisture. Specific Uses Type 7TBTM is specifically formulated for application to rigid urethane and polystyrene foam plastics. It may also be used to protect structural steel from heat in the event of a fire. Type 7TBTM is sprayed directly to foam plastic insulation that is installed on interior wall and ceiling surfaces. Benefits Type 7TBTM provides the necessary thermal protection to cellular plastic insulation. It provides the ability to withstand the effects of high humidity that damage other fireproofing materials. The hardness and strength of Type 7TBTM as compared to most general purpose fireproofing products makes it more durable and able to resist accidental physical damage. Type 7TBTM is a specialty concrete which is non-corrosive to steel and is as compatible as normal concrete with other materials. Applications Type 7TBTM is used in special purpose buildings and specialized areas in other buildings, such as:
TYPE 7TB CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS SPRAY-APPLIED TO STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF BUILDINGS FOR FIRE RESISTANCE. UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES FIRE TEST RESULTS HAVE QUALIFIED IT FOR USE IN OVER 100 DESIGNS. UL DESIGN PAGE TYPE 7TB CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS DERIVED FROM THE BENEFICIAL COMBINATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT AND VERMICULITE. IT IS NON-COMBUSTIBLE AND UNDER FIRE, IT RELEASES WATER OF CRYSTALLIZATION WHICH TURNS TO STEAM AND RETARDS HEAT TRANSFER.
