Descriptions Type HCTM Hard Clad is a high density cladding for providing additional surface durability to sprayed fireproofing. It is spray-applied as a surface layer of one eighth to one quarter inch thick. The formulation cures to form a tough polymer modified vermiculite and Portland cement of 60 pound per cubic foot density. Its strength and toughness upgrades the surface properties of standard density, medium density or high density fireproofing. Specific Uses Upgrading with Type HCTM Card Clad is often the best way to meet service conditions that require surface properties better than those of base fireproofing. Type HCTM sets to form a permanent bond to the fireproofing and provide a higher density, harder and more durable protective cladding as the outside layer. Benefits Type HCTM has excellent workability, spraying, adhesion and trowelling characteristics. Only water is added to produce a wet mix easily applied with standard industry equipment. The improved hard surface properties provided by Type HCTM is the most cost effective way to meet some of the more demanding service conditions that would otherwise require a higher density fireproofing. Type HCTM Hard Clad combines the efficient fireproofing properties of the base fireproofing with a surface hardness that exceeds even that of high density fireproofing. Applications Type HCTM is for interior uses where the combination of fireproofing and surface cladding is cost effective in meeting service condition requirements.
Typical uses for Type HCTM are:
TYPE HC CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS SPRAY-APPLIED TO STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF BUILDINGS FOR FIRE RESISTANCE. UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES FIRE TEST RESULTS HAVE QUALIFIED IT FOR USE IN OVER 100 DESIGNS. UL DESIGN PAGE TYPE HC CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING IS DERIVED FROM THE BENEFICIAL COMBINATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT AND VERMICULITE. IT IS NON-COMBUSTIBLE AND UNDER FIRE, IT RELEASES WATER OF CRYSTALLIZATION WHICH TURNS TO STEAM AND RETARDS HEAT TRANSFER.
